Champagne sales have soared by a massive 71% in the past two weeks – a trend i’m attributing to the fortunes of Jonny Wilkinson and his courageous England team-mates.
Our customers have remained magnanimous since England’s trouncing by South Africa earlier in the tournament as sales of South African wines have remained steady. However they are predicting a sharp decline in sales if the result doesn’t go the right way in the Final this weekend.

I will certainly be celebrating with a bottle or 2 of fine champagne! Can’t wait! My personal choice would be the Pol Roger 96 – the aptly elegant and regal Cuvee Winston Churchill. A win of such magnitude deserves a celebratory toast of matched stature! Come on England!
What a great idea and while I’m obviously gunning for us, a great bottle of fizz would certainly cheer me up if we were to lose too. Hopefully, I’ll be drinking for all the right reasons on Saturday…
I bought a bottle of champagne, but unfortunately it will be returned to the rack for a future occasion! Ended up celebrating our heroic efforts with a delightful Tempranillo!
As a deliriously happy South African we haven’t stopped celebrating and I’m sure our champers and wine sales have done very nicely thanks you – Go Bokke! There’s probably a scramble for the naming rights of a Habana Bubbly somewhere in the winelands and rightly so!!
Had the champers chilled and ready to pop, but unfortunetly I couldn’t reseist and celebrated our great achievment of reaching a consecutive final.
