The closest link between the people that make wine and the people that drink it

I’ve just spotted a post on Wine Wine Wine about Wine-can, ‘a new way to drink wine’.
Would this single-serve can be good for picnics and eating alfresco?
Do you favour glass?

Wine should be drunk from a bottle and sealed with a cork. There has been so much press about the benefits of screwcaps and alternative packaging, but having wine packaged in glass has worked so far, so why change? Laying out a picnic only to snap open a can to have with your cheese just doesn’t do it for me – it may as well be a can of coke!!
Many thanks for your comment Beth.
I would say looking into alternative packaging is necessary for a number of reasons – to reduce our environmental footprint and to reduce the amount of soiled wine which finds its way on to the market through factors such as cork taint for example.
However, you wouldn’t see a can of wine at my picnic – to my mind, this is definitely an occasion to pop open a bottle of something special and a can doesn’t seem to hit the mark!
