Pierre

I have seen the name Mile de Noyer, but don't know their wines. 2001 was not an easy vintage in Chablis, so congratulations to them.

Stephen

It was a fabulous tasting ! I remain convinced that 2005 is the best vintage of my working lifetime which means since 1979. In fact I dont know how much further back you would have to go to find its equal - maybe 1959 ?

We tasted blind, so I did not know that La Grand Rue was my top score until we unveiled, but it confirms a clear sense of progress at Domaine Lamarche in the last few years (their wines showing well at our equivalent 2003 and 2004 tastings).

There is a touch of oak showing at the moment (but why not for a great wine meant for the long term) but the barrel is completely dominated by a magical, vibrant, amazingly energetic fruit which swamps the palate. A brilliant, complete, young red Burgundy which you should not touch for 15 years!

I would love to hear more about this rather extraordinary tasting. In particular, since I have a bottle of the La Grande Rue, I would be very interested in your notes -- since you gave it a perfect 20 -- and your suggestion as to how long to leave it in my cellar before opening.
