Just a few weeks before Christmas and rather romantically after reviewing a collage of our wedding photos from July last year, I came to a somewhat surprising conclusion.

Although my bride looked stunning and I looked “resplendent” in my cream “Havana” suit I was just a tad….er…..chunky! “Dear God Noooooo!!!!” I hear you cry “…..not you….manly is what you are!!”….Sadly if only!

So I thought it was time to grab the Bull of Basingstoke by the horns and do something about my Claret and Cheese love girdle. I enrolled the help of 16 other Berrys employees who felt a smidge plump and called to order the first meeting of The Chunky Monkey Club.

Our aim? To lose as many pounds of excess flesh from 17th November to March 13th 2009. We have asked family and friends to sponsor us and Simon Berry has kindly offered to match our total weight loss on behalf of Berrys. We are doing this on behalf of Comic/Wine relief which will rumble to a thundering crescendo on 13th March with our final weigh-in and our gala Ch. Latour dinner in our cellars in St James’s.
