Dear John,

1977 Warre should be spot on now, though is by no means tiring. The rule of thumb for Port is that a good vintage Port should take 20 years to mature, stay at its plateau of maturity for another 20 years, then slowly fade over the next 20. Given that 1963s are still drinking well, I would say that 1977 Warre is good for another 10 years at least.

Best,

Joss

A case of Warre's 1977 has been stored at a local winemerchants since purchase but they have today advised me it's likely gone beyond its best. Can that be right? Shall I pull out all the stops and consume it soon or do you think I should keep it longer? Many thanks. John

I have 3 bottles of vintage Port from my late Father's effects.
Would you be kind enough to give me some idea of their retail value & whether they should be drunk now, or whether they will improve any further?
Many thanks.
